History

History

2nd Home, Inc. was founded in the Clovis/Fresno Community in 1995 by Darle Stone, LMFT for children as young as six years old. Through her work in the local school system, Darle recognized a need for residential care that served child under the age of twelve in the child welfare population and provided mental health services necessary to addressing their unique needs. 2nd Home, Inc. has offered mental health services since its conception, thus lending to a smooth transition to becoming a Short-Term Residential Treatment Program (STRTP) in 2018. Now comprised of three STRTP facilities, 2nd Home, Inc. provides therapeutic services and behavioral modification interventions for children who benefit from structure, behavioral support, and increased supervision through 24-hour awake residential support. Specialty mental health services are provided by qualified mental health professionals to support our youth in making positive change and forming healthy relationships with themselves and others. Within our program milieu, our immediate objective is to stabilize children by supporting the development of adaptive coping strategies to allow them to increase their functioning and live a healthier life. 2nd Home, Inc. works with our children, their families, and their care team to build essential skills to support a successful journey to a lower level of care and/or less restrictive environment such as a foster home or family of origin.

Our Program

All of our clients are supervised by qualified residential child care workers who are trained to provide support, crisis counseling, and behavioral intervention on-site.

Our program milieu incorporates a level and token economy system designed to provide external structure and cognitive-behavioral change for the minors living in the home. Positive reinforcement, logical consequences, role-play, social modeling, and direct feedback are all components that are integrated into the milieu.

The children admitted into our program attend public schools and are provided with the opportunity to experience living in a natural environment within an established neighborhood and community.

CARF
