Our Clients
They are children, between the ages of 6 and 12 years of age.
They are often referrals from the Department of Social Services, voluntary placements, and special education pupils requiring out-of-home care.
They often have experiences of physical abuse, sexual abuse, neglect, trauma, developmental disabilities, and/or mental health issues.
We have partnerships with agencies such as Central Valley Regional Center, supportive services and agencies for clients who identify as LGBTQ+ as well as for individuals who have experienced commercial sexual exploitation.
Meet Our Clients
The target populations for 2nd Home, Inc.’s Short-Term Residential Therapeutic Programs are children, between the ages of 6 and 12 years of age, with experiences of physical abuse, sexual abuse, neglect, trauma, developmental disabilities, and/or mental health issues. The populations served by 2nd Home, Inc. focus on referrals from the Department of Social Services, voluntary placements, and special education pupils requiring out-of-home care. 2nd Home, Inc. works with various counties throughout California as well as works closely with multiple community partners to ensure that clients receive the support and services they need. 2nd Home, Inc. has partnerships with agencies such as Central Valley Regional Center, supportive services, and agencies for clients who identify as LGBTQ+ and individuals who have experienced commercial sexual exploitation. Clients are further connected to psychological and psychiatric services.
By providing a safe and therapeutic living environment with intensive supportive services for the children, we work to improve their emotional and behavioral functioning, enabling the child to return to their family or a home setting. The children are encouraged to be involved in developmental and age-appropriate group activities to help them integrate into our therapeutic and nurturing environment. Socialization will be encouraged to help cultivate developmentally age-appropriate social skills, peer support, and self-esteem. The development of self-esteem, teaching how to be interdependent with others, master life skills, develop bonds of affection and warmth, experience personal growth, and develop stable and long-term relationships.
